Summer Nights

Can you hear John Travolta and Olivia Newton John singing?  Ok so we watched the movie Grease recently and it's not unusual for one of us to break out in song.  Plus we recently got a karaoke machine for our summer nights entertainment.  :) 

What I really wanted to share was our deck!

So I know it's hard to convey in pictures but our deck was a catch all for a bit and Sugar Bug and I took two day's to clean it off and she helped me put up all the flowers and bird feeders. Now it is a sanctuary to enjoy nature! Plus the best part is .........

LIGHTS!! Our deck is now lit up "like noon in the dead of night" (apparently I'm on a song kick) We can't wait to enjoy this all with friends this summer!  We can sit outside even at night and play cards. Plus we will probably be belting out some tunes too. :) 

Long, long, overdue update!

    So I looked up today and life has raced by!  My girls are growing up way too fast.  Our lives have been busy.  I changed jobs and we are gearing up for a summer of floating, gardening, and building.  Our goal is to get our shop built in the next couple months. 

   The last couple months have been filled with work and some play.  January is birthdays for Super D and me.

The boys has fun target practicing on Levi's birthday.  It was a beautiful day and yes they are outside in January in t-shirts!  I love it! 

After one such fun night our buddy almost was ready to head home but needed a little more shut eye :) 

Who knew that at 12 years old you could still be very entertained by a box.  Sugar Bug spent many hours creating this box of inspiration.

We are just thankful around here that winter is over and warm weather is here.  It gets nicer everyday and we have a huge list of chores and projects for the summer. 

Girls Trip

We got a mini vacation right after Memorial day with my mom in Branson.  Super D had to work so he missed out this time but we will be going again!  We had a blast at Silver Dollar City!

Sugar bug was super excited to go as this year she was tall enough for all the rides!  We sure took advantage of it and hit as many rides as we could.

Of course the water ride was fun and needed as it heated up!

Silver Dollar City is not only fun, but beautiful also.  It's an amusement park set in the woods that also has shows and demonstrations of unique skills.

After we were HUNGRY! so we stopped at this neat restaurant.

Thank you Grammy for a great trip... We missed having my sister and niece there to join us but they couldn't make it at last minute. 
We will have to do it again!

Yikes!

Ok so time as gone into hyper drive again and left me in the dust.  Somehow a whole month has gone by since I posted anything.  I've had a couple ideas and thoughts but just been busy.  So what's been happening?
Well, besides Super D and I working opposite schedules which makes life crazy.  (He's working nights so he's headed to work when I get home)  Somehow we've managed to fit in a quick trip to Branson. I've canned pumpkin, green beans, and jalapenos from the garden. (the only things that did well this year.) Super D got a crazy infection that I will spare you pictures of as it was bad!! Seeing doctor, two different antibiotics bad! Then we welcomed October in with a the big 16 for Sassafras...
So after all the healing and running a month has passed without me noticing.

 And last we did putt putt golf.  It was a great day and the next day we got some shopping in.

NOOOOOO! Come Back Please!!

I am not ready for August!! Can someone tell me what happened to June and July??  We've had a busy summer working hard and trying to take advantage of all the moments we can to play.  So here is a recap of the fun stuff...
June means a Birthday for Sugar Bug and as usual she wanted to spend it at the river.

This year we did go to a new location.  Sugar bug wanted a bridge to jump off of.  As seen above. 
We had a blast and just as we all were about ready to leave it started to storm which cooled it off perfectly for hotdogs and cake at home.  We were all excited to have Grammy be able to visit us twice this summer.  The first time being for Sugar bug's birthday.

We managed to get this family picture while out showing Grammy the Ozarks.

Then in July my sister and baby niece got to visit.  We had fun showing off the area and playing.

 Which means a trip to Dawt mill for ice cream and to play in the water a little...

In July we put on out own fireworks show and had a blast.  But I was so busy enjoying it all I didn't get any good pictures. We managed to go on several float trips too.  As August is here we are in the mist of planning school for the next year and will be starting to harvest and put up stuff from the garden.  Despite my failures I haven't given up on canning yet.  I'll try to get an update on all the garden goods soon..  Hope you all had a good summer!

Fun in the Sun!

Wear sunscreen!  I got the first big sunburn of the season. For the record mom I attempted to put on sunscreen but should have had the kids help me.  Hence it fades from white to red.  And the tag on my tank top was up so I got a lovely square in the middle of my back.  *rolling eyes*

These are our new summer toys! Super D and the girls have gotten to take them out a couple times.  I got out with them once.  They are so much fun and relaxing.  I envision many trips on them.

I staked out our humming bird feeder to get you all a picture.  But when I got the camera out they got shy.  Couldn't get a picture of them at the feeder go figure.  This guy landed on the volleyball net. 

Here's my attempt at a picture.  See the tail? Sugar bug has taken to filling up this feeder and keeping it full for our Hummers.  I love sitting out on our deck and watching them buzz by. 

That's the start of our warm season.  We are looking forward to more fishing, hiking, kayaking, and even bike riding.  Taking time to do the fun stuff is essential to my sanity but is hard to do with us working and keeping the farm running.

Baker Creek

So... this was about a month ago but wanted to get pictures up.  We spent a day at Baker Creek which is a old town tourist type place that raises veggies and sells heirloom seeds.  Their web site is www.rareseeds.com.
They were having their spring festival and Super D was working too.

Sugar Bug posing in front of Super D's and Boss's booth.  This place was packed with booths that ranged from plants, custom made crafts, and food.  It was so fascinating and neat.

 Sassafras was a little harder to catch in a picture.  She's even on the move in this one.  We were watching a blacksmith at work.

This is on our wish list. A solar oven.  We tried baking cookies but this day was too cloudy so we weren't very successful but on sunny days this thing can really cook!

We were so busy checking it all out I failed at getting too many pictures but we sure had a great day!
I got a bag full of seeds for the garden and some plants.  Our garden is planted finally we're hoping to have a good crop this year!

Colorado Snow?!?!?!

  OK so I think we brought a little Colorado weather with us!  We just got 7 inches of snow in March!  It is a good wet snow that wil really help with water levels and we had a blast playing in it...  Now I am not one for cold, but if it must be cold I want snow to go with it.  I love the snow.  I love to play in it sledding, building snowmen, and snow forts.  Never been much of a skier, I think it was always just too expensive a hobby for us.  I love the night sky when it's snowing, so bright and light out in the middle of the night.  Best of all the beauty of a fresh blanket of snow untouched that layers the earth like a blanket. 

Pictures never do it justice!    By the way, the ditch there is for plumbing to the trailer.  :)

 Well, I think we miss 4 wheeling the mountians a bit. Super D pulled the canoe like a sled but slid down the hill ito the trees.

While Super D unstuck the jeep, the girls and I made a massive snowball....

We actually made two, I'm sitting on one, but they were too heavy to stack.

Fluffy found a nice warm spot to cuddle up. Of course Sugar bug doesn't mind.

I swear my kids and husband are like Tim Taylor on the TV show Home Improvement "Arr Arr Arr More Power" :)

Who knew water toys could be so much fun in the snow too!

So much fun and beauty!  Now, I'm ready for warm weather and spring please!
